ImmiQA is not a migration agent or lawyer
ImmiQA is an experimental tool that explains common visa and immigration topics in plain language. It is not a registered migration agent, immigration lawyer, law firm or licensed adviser, and it does not provide immigration advice. Using ImmiQA does not create any professional, agent–client or lawyer–client relationship.
General information only — not advice on your case
Everything here is general information. It is not a recommendation about what visa to apply for, how to complete an application, or how to respond to a decision, request or deadline. Immigration outcomes depend on the full facts of your situation, which a general tool cannot assess. Do not lodge, withdraw or delay an application based only on what you read here.
Rules change and vary
Immigration law, eligibility criteria, points, salary thresholds, occupation lists, fees and processing times change frequently and differ by country, visa class, sponsor and personal circumstances. Information on ImmiQA may be incomplete, simplified or out of date. Always confirm the current rules with the official government source for the country you are dealing with before acting.
Who is allowed to give immigration advice
In most countries only regulated professionals may give immigration assistance or advice. For your specific case, consider a properly registered or licensed adviser, for example:
- Australia — a registered migration agent (regulated by the Office of the Migration Agents Registration Authority / MARA) or an Australian legal practitioner.
- United Kingdom — an adviser regulated by the Immigration Advice Authority (formerly the OISC) or a qualified solicitor/barrister.
- United States — a licensed immigration attorney or a representative accredited by the Department of Justice (EOIR).
- Canada — a Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant (regulated by the CICC) or a licensed lawyer.
- New Zealand — a Licensed Immigration Adviser (regulated by the Immigration Advisers Authority) or a New Zealand lawyer.
- European Union — a qualified immigration lawyer or authorised adviser in the relevant member state.
Emergencies and high-risk situations
If you face an imminent deadline, possible removal or detention, a refusal or cancellation with appeal rights running out, or any situation involving your safety or a criminal matter, do not rely on this tool. Contact a registered adviser or the relevant official authority immediately.
No liability
ImmiQA is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss, cost or consequence arising from your use of, or reliance on, the tool or the information it provides. You use it at your own risk.
Have a specific question? Ask the tool for a plain-language starting point — then verify it with an official source or a registered adviser.
