What IELTS Score Do You Need for an Australian Foundation Program in 2026?

A "standard" foundation program is defined as one running at least 26 and no more than 36 teaching weeks, with a minimum of 720 scheduled course contact hours. Why does the extended program accept IELTS 5 instead of 5.5?
Because it is a longer course with substantially more English built into it. An extended foundation program runs at least 37 and no more than 78 teaching weeks, and the instrument requires that at least 28 per cent of its scheduled course contact hours be English language learning, with at least half of those hours delivered as formal class contact time.
